This time of year my weekend evenings are typically spent with clients, but this year my busy season has started out with rain. Not just a little rain, but weeks of it. Last Sunday, I had intended to go out with a sweet family of four, but instead a loud thunderstorm pushed our session out. To my surprise, though, it randomly stopped storming. I knew I needed to run out with my own girls. For a personal challenge, I decided to let go of my own expectations of what made a beautiful image. I decided I wouldn’t try to get eye contact, smiles, or direct them in anyway. We all had a blast. The girls explored and I documented them just as they were. For added fun, I also experimented with a photography technique called freelensing, which is were you actually shoot with the lens detached from the camera. It creates an almost memory like blur within the image. It was the perfect stormy evening. Enjoy a few from our quick adventure. Are you or someone you know looking for family photos in Longmont, Colorado?
